Hi, my name is Lisa! I’m a Mexico City born-and-raised designer with a background in fine arts, illustration, branding, and tech sales!

My interest in design stems from an interest in accessibility, digital inclusion, and transformative justice. Guided by these principles, I seek to create experiences that are not just intuitive, but also critical, ethical, and intentional with their impact. At the center of all my work is a deep understanding of our innate human desire to communicate and connect with each other. As a designer, my job is to help facilitate all that :)

In my free time, I love making zines, curating music playlists, collecting trinkets, and facilitating a book club (currently reading “On Photography” by Susan Sontag)!

At Brown, I developed a strong interest in the arts and its intersection with human cognition. I spent a lot of time sharpening my visual design skills and exploring how people and social groups make decisions. I graduated in May 2022 with a double major in Visual Arts and Behavioral Sciences.

After college, I worked in business development at a fintech startup. It was during my client discovery calls that I found my interest in UX as I uncovered pain points and opportunity areas in the product experience. I started thinking about ways to make actionable sense of people’s feedback.

While still working, I decided to explore my interest in design by enrolling part-time at Useful School. Here, I worked on my first end-to-end design project and fell in love with the process. I completed the Beginner Product Design course, which helped catalyze my career in design.

Realizing I was seeking out more comprehensive and formal training, I decided to pursue a master’s in HCI at Carnegie Mellon to refine my skills and design methodology to fully pursue my a path in technology and design. I am excited to apply these skills on impactful projects in the near future!

My art practice revolves around time, memory, photography, and the concept of the archive. Feel free to browse through my selected works or just view some snippets of my work below! I have also been involved in some illustration projects such as illustrating for Kernel Magazine, Divine Zine, and a children’s book!
